I'm always surprised when I go into a public library and stumble across a book that I read over and over again on (frequent) childhood visits. And what with so many long-lost books coming back into print (and so many used bookstores), now is a great time to track down old favourites and share them. For Christmas I received a new printing of "Angelina's Christmas". This book was a part of the original Angelina Ballerina series - not one of the TV spinoffs you find so often, but the original charming illustrations and thoughtful story. It was like seeing an old friend and unexpectedly meeting my childhood self all at once! What are the childhood books you've hung on to, or are eager to find and share?

I loved the Serendipity series (Cosgrove) when I was a child. There are a lot of books in the series, but I've been looking for the ones I had - Hardcover, large reader format. I have some, but every time I go into a used bookstore I head straight to the kids section to see if I can find more. It's not just the story (I can easily buy the newer softcover prints online), it's the actual texture and feel of the books I used to own that I want to reconnect to! It's funny how a book was made connects me to my childhood.
